Our Background

Personal Profile

I am one of the few Talent Management Professionals with hands-on technical IT and Digital Systems experience. I cut my teeth by building LAN networks on Novell NT4 machines and machine coding on Motorola 6800 chipsets (remember those?).

After studying Marketing and Media Technology Systems at university, I went on to gain a CIPD HR Qualification and an Advanced Life Coaching Certification. I now have over 18 years’ of recruitment experience under my belt.

My Approach

My approach to recruitment is a reflection of my background - I combine my knowledge of human resources with my love of technology. 

This led me to develop a technical testing method, which I have used for over 15 years, both as an agency Senior Recruiter and as a lead in-house Talent Acquisition Partner. I put each candidate through a pool of carefully tailored questions to screen for the most suitable roles. This helps to save hiring managers time and money. 

In combination with this, I have always enjoyed behavioural and competency interviewing. I have experience of providing interview training at IMGROUP and Hitachi Consulting around this. I use this today for clients of Focused Futures to ensure that candidates have the right mix of consulting, soft skills and the required growth mindset. This is why such a high percentage of our hires have gained promotions quickly and have added value immediately to our client’s business. Over 60% of hires are typically promoted or take on significantly greater responsibility within 12 to 18 months. H-I-R-E-S is our approach that has helped these clients to achieve their goals and growth. 

My experience

I have experience working for corporate multinational firms, including Hitachi. More recently, I have specialised in Microsoft technology-centric SMEs and consultancies that are around 10 - 300 employees and generate between the £500k to £10 million turnover level. These are businesses that need support on an interim basis to rapidly grow given a surge in requirements. 

I am also able to support businesses that require maternity or long-term sickness cover, but are unable to justify a permanent full-time employee for a Senior Recruitment/Lead Talent Acquisition role. These companies need a professional with a wealth of experience who can quickly get up to speed and integrate successfully with the HR department and SLT.

At data and AI scale-up Coeo, I hired over 45 individuals, which helped them to become a £9m turnover business. This included tech hiring and also a rebuild of their Business Development function, including Principal BDMs, Account Managers, Inside Sales, Alliance Managers and Marketing Managers. During my final quarter of employment, I saved Coeo £150k in agency fees.

Not all clients can justify a commitment to an integrated interim internal recruiter and I also offer contingency/ad-hoc recruitment service for those clients with a few roles for their permanent or contract needs.    

Additional Services

More recently I have decided to fuse my Life Coaching and additional L&D skills learned in my HR qualification to provide a series of After-Placement Life and Performance Coaching modules on a 1-2-1 basis. 

This provides value-added service and helps my clients’ HR teams with the successful onboarding of new placements. These modules provide new hires with additional tools to make a greater impact during the critical first 100-day period.
